The Jacob Eason era got off to a fast start for the Washington Huskies in Week 1.
Eason threw in his first touchdown pass since 2016 with the Georgia Bulldogs. He wasn’t going to overtake Jake Fromm because the starter so that he moved to some place where it was close to a lock that he would be playing.
Eason made a decision that was good with moving to not only a place where he is going to play, but to get a rival who has a shot at something. Washington didn’t have much of a test against Eastern Washington. They came prepared to play in a match that they could have gone through the moves in.
The California Golden Bears will be in town. Cal were winners with a score of 27-13 from UC-Davis in Week 1. UC-Davis are a much better team than promoted, therefore it could have been a snare place for Cal to start the year.
They defeat San Jose State a year ago, an FBS school, gave Stanford they could manage in a 30-10 loss. The Golden Bears have a huge performance out of running Christopher Brown Jr. as he gashed the UC-Davis for 197 yards on 5.5 yards per carry. Marcel Dancy also rushed for 6.4 yards per carry on 6.4 yards per carry.
Justin Wilcox took the reins in 2017 in Cal and he changed the culture . With Jarred Goff off to the NFL, Cal needed to quit relying on needing to score 50 points a game and rely more on a defense. The shield has been transformed by wilcox into the worst at the Pac-12 to a few of the top units.
Cal beat against Washington last year, 12-10, without needing to score an offensive touchdown. That’s crazy to believe before Wilcox became head coach at which the Golden Bears were considering. Head under for our complimentary Cal vs. Washington select.

Cal leaned heavily on their defense to complete with a record of 7-5 moving into the Cheez-It Bowl. Their defense was once again lights out from TCU, but it was not enough at a 10-7 loss. Put with the Jarred Goff team and Cal are currently going to be favorites in the Pac-12. I could say that there isn’t nearly as much stress on the shield than previously. Rather than going lightning the Golden Bears play with the ball possession game. The shield had no time to rest.
The Golden Bears finished 16th nationwide with just 319 yards. They also permitted just 21.4 points per game. And that was at the Pac-12 where they had to play some offenses that are excellent. Cal provedn’t beating up against crimes who could not put one foot in front of the other. Washington State, arizona, Oregon, USC, and Stanford were on their own schedule. Going back to last year is sometimes meaningless given roll up, but Cal return everybody defensively.
This can be a group, with everybody back on protection. Over their last seven games of this 2018 year, Cal allowed only 14.9 points per match. If linebacker Cameron Goode didn’t blow his knee out in 2018 they might have been even better last year. He has been fit and appeared strong against UC-Davis, leading to the win with a sack. They’re certainly among the most underrated defenses in the nation.
Quarterback Chase Garbers is back for Cal as well. Wilcox expects to see him take leaps forward after throwing for 10 interceptions and 14 touchdowns a season ago. Garbers rushed for two touchdowns and 420 yards too. He faces a difficult matchup against a Washington defense that is solid. There is not much experience about the Huskies.
Seniors Benning Potoa’e and Myles Bryant are the only returning starters. The secondary watched four players graduating. They’re likely to be demanding, but can’t see them being as strong as last season early in the year. This ought to allow Garbers as well as the Cal crime to perform competitively. 14 points sounds like a great deal of points given the ability of Cal . The Golden Bears have a lot of value for the cover, although washington likely win.
